Catherine Kirk

Catherine Kirk is a performer, dancer, choreographer, and teaching artist born and raised on the unceded land of the Kiickaapoi and Wichita peoples, now known as Dallas, Texas. Kirk’s dance works create environments and tell stories grounded in soul, ancestral groove, leisure, communal care, and social equity. She has created work for installation spaces, commercials, and short films, and has been an artist-in-residence at Art Cake Brooklyn and the Jonah Bokaer Arts Foundation. For the past eight years, she has toured with Kyle Abraham’s company A.I.M as a Dancer, Collaborator and part-time Marketing Associate. She has also assisted in creations and staged work for Springboard Danse Montreal, Coddarts Rotterdam, Peabody University, Point Park University, and The Juilliard School. She has danced, collaborated, and performed for an array of dance makers including Jasmine Hearn, Chuck Wilt of UNA Productions, Burr Johnson, and Helen Simoneau. She has a B.F.A. in dance from New York University. She gained her yoga certification through The Perri Institute for Mind and Body and is Reiki certified. As a teaching artist, she shares her methodologies in contemporary movement exploration, yoga, and improvisation. She has been an adjunct professor at Hartford University and a panelist and facilitator of multiple panels and town halls advocating for arts workers’ rights.
